1961Springthe second sight record for Minnesota, was seen about halfway between La Crescent and Hokah, Houston County, on 13 May by R. Glassel, R. Grant and the Huber brothers. (See Notes of Interest).
1962SpringOne in non-breeding plumage seen 3 miles east of Vasa, Goodhue Co., on May 13 by Vincent Heig.
1964Spring5-26 Grass Lake, Minneapolis, 1 adult, seen all day by MAS, RBJ. See Notes of Interest.
1965SpringOn 5-16 and 5-17, two birds were seen at Winona by many observers. This is the fifth Minnesota record and compares nicely with two Wisconsin reports and a nesting as far noth in the Mississippi Valley as Arkansas.
1967Spring4-15 to 4-26 Root River near Hokah, Houston Co., 1 seen in the exact same spot where another was seen several years ago by Avifaunal Club members, FL, GD, RLH, HFH, WRP, many others; coincidence of locale raises the possibility that this could even have been same individual bird both times? Common Egret: early 4-1 Houston Co., FL; 4-10 Hennepin Co., PE; 4-13 Wabasha Co., DGM and Marshall Co., A WR; 4-14 Carver Co., RPR.

1971Springan amazing influx this year, 7 reports of 15 individuals throughout the state: 4-20 to 4-24 (2) and 4-28, 29 (1) Wabasha WDM; 5-3 Winona (2) TV; 5-7 Chisago (6) FS; 5-10 St. Cloud, Stearns Co. (1), Norman Ford; 5-15 Heron Loke, Jackson Co. (l),DB. TV; 5-18 to 5-28 Agassiz Refuge, Marshall Co. 2001Fall All reports: 8/14–21 Faribault (4 near Minnesota L.) DBz et al., and single birds 8/25 Big Stone (Toqua Twp.) DPJ, 10/19 Cook (Grand Marais) BRL, late November Cook (Colville) fide AXH. Though undocumented, the latter was described as associating with horses.
2002Spring Statewide total 24 birds, down from 90 last spring and resuming this species' relative scarcity since Spring 1993. Early south 4/13 Meeker DMF, 4/15 Freeborn AEB, followed by single birds in Dakota (2 locations), Lac qui Parle, Nicollet, Ramsey, Scott, Stearns, Wright.
